Chosen Experiences

Role:

As Chosen’s global nutritionist and mindset coach, I created a nutrition philosophy that influenced menus and client wellness programs.. In 2014, the founders of Chosen, Robin Connelley and John Stanton asked me to come on board and help create the nutrition and dietary ethos. In addition to creating a food philosophy rooted I worked closely with the executive chefs to curate a menu that sources local, sustainable and whole foods.

Each experience was created to help humans from various walks of life connect and one of the most consistent forms of human connection happened around meal and snack time. Food became not only a source of nourishment but also a form of expression and connection for all those who attended Chosen Experiences.

Solved for:

Chosen designed carefully curated week long experiences for high performers from all over the globe. An essential part in optimal performance is nutrition and mindful eating so from 2014-2019, I was a leader in the space of helping to educate clients, executive chefs and Chosen employees on best practices.

Outcomes:

Each week, high performers from all over the world would gather in places like Bali, New Zealand, Guatemala and Iceland to immerse themselves in the best practices for lifestyle optimization. The clients and attending staff would sit down to enjoy 3 meals a day that nourished them while regulating blood sugar and keeping inflammation at bay. Clients felt their sugar cravings dissipate, their focus improve and their love for food be amplified.

 The Company

The Chōsen philosophy was inspired by the Japanese concept of ikigai, meaning “a life worth living,” and the verb chō-sen suru (挑戦する), “to undertake a challenge.” Chōsen founders John Stanton and Robin Connelley, who are also clean-tech venture capitalist and longtime collaborators, saw the need to shift their focus from monetary success to living their kigai: supporting their international community of courageous innovators in their journeys of self-exploration. In 2013, they used their passion for learning to launch the Chōsen program in coordination with leading experts in functional wellbeing, psychology, and the high performance world of the Olympics. Chōsen’s mission is to create and support a global community of individuals who explore themselves and the world around them.
